Wendy Toale

Wendy Toale

Fifth Grade

Hi, my name is Wendy Toale (pronounced "toll", like a toll bridge!)  I was born and raised in central California, and moved to Utah on Thanksgiving Day of 2010.  I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.  I love being there when a student has a "light bulb" moment and is able to understand a concept they've been struggling with!  Knowing that I am helping to teach future leaders gives me such satisfaction.  I graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies, concentrating in elementary education.  My husband and I have one son, who will be in 6th grade this school year.  My teaching career in Utah has been in charter schools.  I've taught in 6th grade the past three years, but I am very excited to get back to 5th grade, which has always been my favorite.  I am a teacher who is full of energy as I believe that it is a great way to keep students engaged and having fun.  Like Tigger, I'm "bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun"!

I have been a HUGE Star Wars fan my entire life.  I love the life lessons the saga teaches regarding how to overcome trials and become the best person you can be.  If you get me started, I could spend hours talking about these movies!  I'm often heard quoting famous lines during class.  As Yoda says, "Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is".   I love nail art and have become a "do-it-yourself" manicurist for myself.  Over the past three years I've learned different techniques through the use of Pinterest and YouTube, so you can expect to see something different on my nails each week!  My love of sports has rubbed off on my family.  We love the Utah Jazz, and the Colorado Rockies.

I am so excited to be teaching at Ascent this coming year.  I can't wait to meet your children and watch them learn and grow.  It's going to be a fantastic school year!
