I am thrilled to continue teaching as a 2nd grade teacher in the Ascent family. I have been teaching at Ascent Academies since it opened in 2014, at the West Jordan campus. Prior to teaching there, I’ve taught kindergarten as well as Special Education in PreK-1st grade ages. I graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a composite degree in Early Childhood and Special Education.
Learning is my passion and I hope to show my students the value of becoming a lifelong learner. I know every student is capable of learning and progressing in their own way. Learning from each other is invaluable as we each have something to offer. In my class, the expectation is for everyone to treat one another with respect as I want everyone to feel safe and loved. Although I was born here in Salt Lake City, I consider myself a Texan because my family moved to Houston when I was twelve years old and my parents still reside there. I am blessed to be married to my best friend, Mike. We have three little daughters, Emmalyn, Morgan, and Alyson, and I also have one sweet stepson, Ian. As a family, we love watching movies, playing board games, going camping, and anything that ultimately allows us to spend quality time together. We also love to travel together, especially if that means seeing family. My family means everything to me!
