Wensdae Miller

Wensdae Miller

Special Education

Hello! I'm Wensdae Miller, one of the Special Education Teachers at Ascent West Valley. My assistants and I provide support for students who are struggling due to factors such as learning disabilities, autism, and/or behavioral/emotional challenges.

My Favorite Parts of My Job:

-Seeing students gain confidence in themselves and get excited about learning

-Mentoring my amazing assistants

-Identifying which parts of a concept are confusing for a student, then developing explanations and materials to help make concepts more clear

-Analyzing data to identify student needs and document progress

Fun Fact:

I am named after Wednesday Addams, from the old black-and-white Addams Family TV show. My dad made up the unique spelling of my name to make it shorter.

Hobbies:

-Board games and logic puzzles

-Quilting

-Decorating for parties

-Reading/audiobooks, especially nonfiction, fantasy, and historical fiction

-SPOILING MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS!

Some Favorites:

Treats: Snickers, Almond Joy, root beer, Oreos, nachos, bagels

Colors: Any bright colors! My classroom has a lot of teal, magenta, and aqua.

Characters: The Minions from Despicable Me

Books: Harry Potter series (I'm a Ravenclaw), Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan, anything by psychological researcher Brene Brown

TV Shows: The Chosen, Star Trek, Dr. Who (Matt Smith is my Doctor), Nailed It (a silly amateur baking show)
